Happy Thanksgiving. No Turkey Required.

Well, why not?  No, I don't plan on roasting a 19 pound turkey.  Are you kidding?   It's too damned hot to turn the oven on!  I have simply been thinking about things this morning - and by 'this morning' I mean since midnight -  I've not slept, yet. My days and nights are still wonky, and I'm still on 'hospital time.'

Things that I am thankful for.  If you know me, you know that I love a good list.  If someone wants to ever pay me to make lists, I'm your girl.  Anyway, I thought I'd just jot down a few things that I have been thinking about, lately.  Things that I am thankful for.  In no particular order;
  • Teachers that truly love what they do. Very rare gems, they are.  It's so refreshing to see a teacher truly love what they chose to do in life.
  • For my kids' friends.  A good bunch.
  • Barkeeper's Friend
  • For the friends I have made through Facebook.  I know - it sounds cheesy - still these people have impacted me in such grand ways.
  • My family.  My extended family - Gambinos and Botkins
  • My hair.  And that I still have a thick head full.  It's greying... fast.
  • For the courage to stop coloring it.
  • Summer vacation
  • For being the optimist
  • I am thankful that my parents welcomed a guy named Rob into their daughter's life.
  • For the family members that I am getting to know even better - again, thanks to Facebook.  I love you!
  • Flip Flops
  • For Toni.
  • The last conversation I had with my dear Ma was telling her that she would have a grandson. She was ecstatic, and we talked all about baby boys.  I thank God that I was able to do that for her.
  • Having the most giving father on the planet.
  • For Donna
  • For growing old gracefully, and embracing the changes.
  • For my parakeet.  She is a great companion, who will sit and talk with me whenever I want her to. She makes me laugh, and I am in awe of her trust in me.
  • I am thankful for being able to pray to God the way I wish to.  Not everyone has this privilege.
  • That my children were able to know my father.  Their grandfather was so proud of them.  I don't look at what he did as 'spoiling them rotten';  He simply wanted to make them happy.
  • I'm thankful that my boys still kiss me, and their father, every day.
  • That my husband can still make me blush.
  • The Tudors
  • That the two little Hydrangea plants my father gave me are now huge, lush beauties that others are envy of.  So much so, that they feel the need to steal it's blossoms.
  • I am thankful for my friends.
  • I am thankful that I was given a love for music that crosses many genres
  • That I can draw
  • For you
  • That I have a wicked sense of humor
  • For my 'adoptive' parents.  I love you MommaC & UncleD!
  • That I have common sense
  • That I am a kind person
  • For my sisters, Patty & Teri
  • For my doctors. I have the best.
  • Clay Alexander
  • For Alex's green eyes
  • For Aaron's brown eyes
  • That my sons tell me they love me, every day
  • That I do not smoke, anymore.
  • That I do not drink, anymore... and being told by my kids how cool that is.
  • Dennis Wands
  • For the cashiers at Hickory Ridge Giant
  • That my sons were able to say 'goodbye' to their grandfather.  It was a blessing in disguise, and I think the boys now realize it.  It was very hard for them, but looking back, they are so grateful.
  • Frederic Chopin
  • Being an American
  • For holding my dear daddy's hand as he went home.  A precious, bittersweet moment that I am so blessed to have experienced.
  • Books
  • The freedom to choose.
  • The seasons
  • WETA TV and radio
  • Maryland Blue Crabs
  • Mother Theresa, Princess Diana, Fred Rogers,  Elvis Presley, John Lennon, Janis Joplin, John Denver, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Ella Fitzgerald and all that they have given and left for us.
  • Sanitation workers
  • Art
  • Birds
  • I am thankful for being the daughter of two very loving, funny, smart, giving people
  • The kindness of strangers
  • Ladybugs and dragonflies
  • Hospice
  • The Kinks, Shaun Cassidy, and The Grateful Dead
  • Having polite,well-mannered children
  • Those who read what I write on my blog
  • That my son's friends hug me, and call me "Ma"
  • Carnations
  • I am thankful for today.
  • For Aaron
  • For Alex
  • For Rob
 Until next time,
Count your blessings and love each other ~
