Another Listy Entry: More Things that Make Up Mary; A Blatant Theft From Another Blogger

I came across a listy blog this morning - those of you that really know me know how much I not only dig making a list, but I love reading listy entries as well - and at the end of her list of 100 things about her, she invited her readers to compile their own lists about themselves.  I don't consider myself to be narcissistic - but I'm not shy, either.  I'm still recuperating, so I thought I'd take her up on her challenge.  So, here ya go;

1.  I am a sucker for a needy animal.  Any needy animal.  I hate to see any animal suffer.  In my dreams, I dream of owning a rehab center for them.

2.  I really dislike bugs.  All bugs.  Okay, lady bugs are cute.  I also liked praying mantis until I watched one hunker down and wait for a humming bird, attack it, and then eat it.  Yeah, my respect for them after that went way down.

3.  My husband and I have become avid birders.  We love to go out and just look for them as they do their thing.  It's become something that the two of us really enjoy doing as a couple.

4.  I struggled for a very long about my spirituality. I was baptized Catholic.  My parents never took me to church.  I learned the Mass from going with extended family and friends. I don't blame my parents for not educating me more. I am now finally finding myself, spiritually.  For a very long time, I considered myself to be Agnostic.  I needed more.  I did a lot of reading, and talking to people about how I felt an emptiness; a disconnection. My father always told me that I didn't need to enter a guilded cathedral to be close to God - or whatever I felt close to.  He told me this near the end of his life. I don't label myself, now. I suppose if I had to do that, I'd be more on the Pagan side, but even that isn't exactly where I am now, either.  I do what I do.  I am everywhere, and I am home, now.

5.  I have a wicked, immense, and phobic fear of all things vomit.  I am terrified when I do it, and I freeze like a deer in headlights when I hear/see my husband and sons doing it.  Early on in our family life, my husband took over the vomit department with our kids.

6.  I love playing The Sims 3.  I always joke and say "I never have enough drama in my life.  I just create more in my alter-ego simulated family."  Seriously, I find it to be very relaxing.

7.  I hate oysters.  They remind me of boogers.

8.  I am very smell-sensitive.  I am very aware of how my home smells.  I cannot deal with musty, dirty "house-odors."  If I could, I'd burn incense, burn candles, and leave the windows open 24/7, no matter the season.  Thanks to a severely asthmatic husband, I cannot do that.

9.   I can't seem to get into finishing my second novel that I started last NANOWRIMO.  Sad, because it's awesome.

10.  I spanked both of my sons a grand total of four times... put together.  I simply do not believe that it works.  My kids turned out great.

11.  While I sometimes miss the baby and kid days of motherhood, I'm so glad that my sons are now adults.  When I was in my twenties, my father told me that while he'd always be "daddy," he truly liked me as a friend.  Sure he fathered me until the day he passed away, but he and I became FRIENDS, too.  It's really nice being a parent and to finally like your children as friends.

12.  I'm not especially fond of talking on the phone.

13.  I love hard boiled egg yolks.  Not fond of the whites.

14.  I have my own style.  Sometimes it's really awesome.  Others, it's... well, not.

15.  I have the world's ugliest feet on the planet.  Still I wear flip-flops.  I know my toes are ugly, even when painted. But flip-flops are super cute and comfy... just look away.

16.  I think my parakeet loves me.  I mean LOVES me.  As in being IN LOVE with me.  *sigh* it's not funny.

17.  I don't think I'll be able to do all of the things I used to do a year ago without being in pain.  It's something I will need to learn to adjust to.  This is when I miss my dad a lot.  He would understand what I'm going through.

18.  My heart skips a beat when I hear the apartment entry door slam, hearing his footsteps bound downstairs, and hearing his keys unlock our front door.  My baby's home.

19.  I am silly.  I love sopohmoric humor.  Farts are funny.

20.  If my sons approached me and told me that they were gay, I would smile and then hug them.  I would worry about them only because of other people's ignorance and closed- mindedness.

21.  I am very "Pro-legalization" regarding marijuana.  And no, I'm not a stoner.

22. I thank the powers that be for baseball pants.

23.  While I love my digital camera, I find it to be almost cheating when I use it.  I kind of miss the days of putting a few rolls of film in and wondering if all of my photos came out.

24.  I am insanely crazy about steak.

25.  I still can't completely wrap my head around the fact that both of my parents are gone.

26.  I am about to try Reiki for the first time.

27.  I am getting braver regarding hair color.

28.  Self-expression is very important to me and I have tried to instill that in my sons.

29.  I think I'm losing my hearing.

30.  I tend to repeat things.

31.  I tend to repeat things.

32.  I have made new friends through Facebook that are very dear to me.

33.  I have reconnected with people via Facebook that I wish lived closer to me. Those that do live close to me, I feel bad that we have not done so.  SOON.

34.  I might write about about something that I am going through right now that I believe every woman and man should read.  Because of my current circumstances, I cannot say anything more about that.

35.  Some of my favorite scents?  Crayola crayons, honeysuckle, carnations, Dove soap, Bio Oil, Amazing Grace by Philosophy, roasting chicken, Mr. Clean, coffee, rain, the sea, Johnson's Baby Powder, my dressing at Thanksgiving, lemon, leather, wood, almonds ...

36.  I used to always say that pink was my least favorite color.  I think that has changed as I now own a LOT of pink things.  I still love periwinkle blue, though.

37.  I have lived in Columbia, MD longer than I lived in my home growing up.  Man, I'm getting up there.

38.  I am not that fond of pizza.

39.  My parakeet's favorite song to dance to is Mercy by Duffy.  I'll have to record her.

40.  She can also talk a bit.  Aaron taught her to say, "Whatcha doin?"  I taught her to say, "Da Doo Ron Ron Ron, Da Doo Ron Ron."  She's said it twice... but only for me.  Nobody believes me.

41.  I still carry a torch for Shaun Cassidy.

42.  I don't really drink alcohol anymore, but I will partake in a glass of vino now and then.

43.  I make time for The Little Couple and for Believe.  Believe was cancelled. Heartbroken.

44.  I despise milk.
45.  I love chocolate milk.

46.  I want a dog.  For my very own.  A teacup Pomeranian/Husky.
And I will love her, and pet her, and cuddle her, and she will be MY buppy.

47.  If I hadn't had to have so many surgeries, I would love to get my feet done.  I hate bunions.  Maybe a second breast reduction while I'm in there.  But I've had enough.  No more electives.  Ever.

49.  Pharrell's Happy really does make me happy.

50.  I know almost all of the ER staff on a first name basis.  I'm friends with some of them, now. I honestly don't know if that's good or bad.

51.  I find people that complain about petty shit to be very annoying.  I am really trying to pick my battles these days and let the stupid stuff roll away.

52.  I could eat orange Tic Tacs  all day long.

53.  I absolutely detest the smell of cigarettes.

54.  Calling a stranger on the phone bothers me more than speaking publicly in front of a crowd.

55.  I've never seen, and have no desire to see Star Wars.  Sue me.

56.  The original The Amityville Horror still scares the shit out of me.

58.  I just bought a brand-new bed.  I detest it.

60.  I haven't slept more than four hours a night in over 6 weeks.

61.  I miss playing Runescape.

62.  I listen to Chopin daily.

63.  I find it very easy to strike up a conversation with a complete stranger.  Meeting new people is something I love.  I'm a social butterfly.

64.  I am really trying not to purchase or eat processed foods.  It's hard.  I really love cereal.

65.  I love stiletto heels.  If I could wear them, I would wear them every day, all day long.  Alas...

67.  I still color in coloring books.

68.  I get bored very easily.

69.  I like pearls more than diamonds.

70.  When I step in a puddle, my left foot leaves only 4 toe prints.

71.  I've been told that I laugh in my sleep.

72.  I found out that my dad was not my mother's first husband... after I got engaged.

73.  I'm not a fan of fruit.

74.  My father was one of twelve children.

75.  Out of all of my cousins on my father's side, I am the ONLY only child.  :P

76.  I make my bed the second I get up.

77.  I love July 4th.  The smell of gunpowder mixed with hamburgers and hot dogs... it just screams SUMMER!

78.  I love MY recipe for potato salad.  No frills.  Just basic stuff.  No olives, bacon, raisins (yep, I've seen raisins in potato salad) BLAAA!

79. Raisins.  I detest them in cookies, salads, and baked goods, but I will nosh on them from the cute little red box.

80.  I love and respect Mother Earth.

81.  I am living a more relaxed lifestyle.  From clothing to how I meditate.  Really; pick your battles and don't sweat the little shit.

82. Being ill, in pain and in hospital for so long has really opened my eyes to what's really important.

83.  My sons still kiss me goodbye whenever they leave the apartment.  They still kiss me goodnight, too.

84.  My sons amaze me with how aware they are.  They are both very insightful regarding politics and world issues.

85.  I am eternally optimistic.

86.  I feel like I was born in the wrong generation.

87.  I absolutely love lima beans.

88.  I am so ready to move.

89.  I'd even consider moving to another state.

90.  I wish I didn't have to take meds to be pain-free.

91.  I wish I had treated my body with more respect.  All those cigarettes and beers... :(

92.  As I recover, I am planning on a healthier lifestyle.

93.  I wish recovery from all of what I am going through didn't have to hurt this much and take so long, but it could always be worse.

94.  I am now registered as an independent. And no, that doesn't mean I'm undecided!

95.  I love playing board games... I just wish my family did, too.

96.  I would love to adopt another child.

97.  #1 on my bucket list? To meet Shaun Cassidy.

98.  Someday, I'll have a huge backyard and it'll be filled with veggies!

99.  The house I have will have a screen door that squeaks and slams shut.

100.  I'll get what what I deserve.
